Hillsdale's Haunted Church Road

Shannon Overland and myself (Amy Williamson) live in Hillsdale County, Michigan. Being paranormal investigators, one of the questions we are always asked by locals is "have you been on Church Road". Well one winter day when Shannon and I both had of work (there was an ice storm and power was out) we had the brilliant idea to go down Church Rd. We were nervous because in addition to it being haunted, there are numerous rumors that people are arrested for going on or near the property. The following is the crazy footage!

*We were contacted informed we may have been on the wrong side of Church Road. However, we were contacted AGAIN by a man who has reported some very strange activity on the side of the road we were on. People being shoved, trees that had fallen to the ground (large HEAVY trees) moving on their own etc... Very interesting indeed!

ParaWomen Radio-Book Review/Interview with Jo Lynne Valerie

ParaWomen Radio

Jo Lynne Valerie will be on Parawomen Scream Radio this week (October 29th) 2009 at 7pm ET! I had a chance to get a first peek at her book (A Tale For All Seasons - Magical Stories for Heart and Soul, by Jo Lynne Valerie). Jo Lynne walks her reader through the various seasons as she takes us by the hand and brings her characters alive via the magick of the turning of the wheel. The Autumn tale has always stuck with me as I often find myself thinking of Jac and Natalia and actually wondering what they are doing (as it is currently their season)! A must read for every season/person...

The Haunted Rider INN and Rock n Roll BABEEE

This past weekend Ian and I took a ROAD TRIP to Ohio (the Cleveland/Painesville) area. I was a guest speaker at "Meet The Spirits Conference". I also was peddling my pendulums and what not. So here is the lowdown on the weekend.

Saturday: We set off for travel about noonish. The further into Ohio we got the more rain came down on us. At one point we could barely see the road. Some people had pulled over on the side of the road to let the rain pass. But I mean it rained for 30 or more minutes and we were moving forward. I bet those cars that stopped sat there fore an hour or more! Pfft! We had places to be and people to see!

At last we arrived at the Haunted Rider INN.

The Haunted Rider Inn (thats the deck we sat on Saturday Night)

We were shown to our room, however we were offered the room that was supposed to be the most haunted, Suzanna's Room (insert ominous music here). After much thought and consideration (a certain snorer was factored into the mix) we took Suzanna's Room.

Outside of Suzanna's Room

Mind matrix makes me see a skull with glowy red eyes

We went downstairs and chatted a bit with Jennifer and her aunt Sherry (her other aunt Lynda was napping). When poof, pop, zoweeey, we lost power. I groaned because it was quite hot upstairs in the room. Everyone else was cheery about the whole thing, but heat and I don't mix well. Madelyn was on her way to the INN she was texting a spooky novel while driving. Later I learned she can text without looking at her phone, I was impressed.

Hunger set in and Ian and I decided to venture out into the town of Painesville. We heard from the INN keeper that the whole town had been featured in an Alieve Add. They had crossed out the Pain in Painesville. I missed that add. Ian and I found a little family restaurant and ate. I felt mucho better but needed a nap. Some people can travel and show up looking all glowey and happy. Not I. Traveling (and mind you it was only a 3.5 hour trip) makes me tired and gritty. So I napped. When we got up we went downstairs and there was some guy (and a woman) singing Irish songs. At one point he asked me to sing with him. I declined for the well being of everyone listening (there's many things i'll do just because someone says I can't, singing isnt one of those things). We went outside and found the rest of the gang outside on the deck. We joined them. We chatted for about 2 hours. I haven't laughed that much in awhile. At one point we all pulled out our cell phones and showed each other our cats. I WAS AMONG CRAZY CAT PEOPLE!

Later in the night we held a seance. Some people had some interesting experiences, I just felt the table buzz. Jennifer tells me that she has caught something on her voice recorder. I had mine going as well, and I have to see what I caught! Madelyn Alt said this about the seance: "during the seance . . . when the medium asked a question, I heard a soft whisper, almost a hiss: "Yes" off from one side of the room, but it almost seemed directionless. And when the dark entity was there, what I felt was a tense, viselike pulling from my root chakra area all the way up to my chest, tightening, tightening, tightening." SpoooKy huh.

Sunday: This was the day of the event. There was hustle and bustle by all the vendors and readers getting their table all set up. I brought Lucky the Gnome with me and he stood guard over my table. At one point I came up to my table and Jennifer's Aunt Lynda was standing by my table. She said something about the pendulums and I replied and we spoke for about a minute and then she all the sudden said "Oh Amy, it's you, I didn't even recognize you". Proof that I don't travel well lol. I said "Really, I look that different from yesterday". She said maybe it was my hair being down. I thought no, I don't travel well haha.

It was really cool meeting everyone at the conference. I gave my class at 2pm. During the class someone asked me about Orbs. I said that I thought a great deal of pictures with orbs in them was indeed just dust, however I've seen an orb with my naked eye. I mentioned that most of the blue orbs you see in pictures were lens flare... And then, just to prove me wrong, I saw a blue orb out of the corner of my eye. Those ghosts LOoooOOve to prove a person wrong, aye?

One thing that impressed me, Madelyn was giving a book signing that day and she had some fans drive 7 hours to see her! 7 hours, for a road trip, on a Sunday might I add. They sat with her a long time and she chatted with them. I'm sure it gave those people (many of them teenagers) a thrill!

Everyone left after the conference, but Ian and I had decided to stay another night and head into Cleveland to the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame.

Monday: SoooOOo much rain. I was sick of the rain. We went into Cleveland and had to park about a mile away from the museum. It was raining, a constant misty type of rain. We walked quickly to the museum and the whole right side of my body, face, hair was drenched. When we got into the museum we were told no photo's allowed. Grrrrrr. We did take some photo's outside the museum and inside the lobby. I will allow no photo's of me to be posted however, rain and travel do not make for a good photo opp for me.

Rock n Roll Babeee

Ian by the big funky guitars

As we walked through the museum I felt a sense of sadness. So much excess that led to destruction. So many stars that had their flames snuffed out so early. I was drawn to Janice Joplin's Porsche. She had it painted in a psychedelic theme (with peace symbols and magic mushrooms). Next to the actual prosche was a picture of her driving it through the streets of San Fran. She seemed so happy and carefree. Yet we know she had so many demons. On the top floor of the museum was the Doors exhibit. I read a letter that Jim wrote his manager from Paris. He was saying he thought he wanted to stay there, and would he send them credit cards with both their names on them (Pam being the other part of "them"). He also was asking for 3 grand in rent money etc... Soon after that letter he died. Many of these things they had in the museum were worn or written or touched by someone who has crossed over. Can you imagine the hauntings that go on at that museum!?

Janis and her Porsche (photo NOT taken by me, haha)

And then it was time to come home. I'm really starting to enjoy these mini road trips. I had mucho fun in spite of the rain and some other small annoyances. So cheers to all my fellow travelers that weekend, i'm looking forward to Bermuda BABY!
